It all started when I checked my fluids

That should be a simple task right? Well that part I suppose is true; however, what the checking of fluids lead me to is a whole different story.

I checked all of the fluids and they all came back fine which brought a smile to my face. I figured that while I had my head under the hood I should probably check the air filter. Well I popped the top of the air box found the filter to be fine, but noticed a rather large tear in the hose connecting the air box to the throttle body. I removed the hose and started digging deeper. I found that one rubber elbow had failed, removed that.

With two parts already in my “to be replaced” pile I figured that I should check the infamous flame trap. It was about 50% clogged and the housing was in poor condition. Yet more parts joined my quickly growing pile. I looked around for a little while longer and couldn't find anything.

I went to the dealer and bought the parts that I needed along with a new rear wiper blade and o-ring for the flame trap housing.

This should be where the story should say that I put everything back together and enjoyed a frosty beverage but it doesn't. When I was putting the flame trap housing together I snapped a hose that connects the housing to the vent box. The issue here is that the vent box is behind the intake manifold. I searched for an alternative and found none the intake manifold had to come out.

As of this post I finally managed to remove the intake manifold and am making a parts list so I can get this project wrapped up quickly. I'll post many pictures and a detailed explanation when time permits.
